It seems like its been forever since I’ve had time to share what’s been in my studio lately. Work continues on my Barton Estate exhibition for later this year, plus various works for my galleries. (yes there has been a bright side to COVID 19).

Starting sketches for the portraits

This month I have had the pleasure of creating some portraits of two muchly loved puppies. I have come to know these pups so well, they have such different personalities, so for each portrait, each personalities majorly influenced the control of the ink and the outcome of the work.

Each portrait was created using pigmented ink and pens, on 300gsm Fine Art Paper. I really enjoy the balance of interpreting how loose to go with the mark making. I think I was holding my breath for half of these portraits!

I don’t get as much time as I used to delve into the world of pet portraiture these days, but when I do, it’s always so much fun to spend time with each animal, imagining the little quirks each pet may have, or in this case, definitely has!

Have a great week everyone! ~ K
